How To Add Chlorine to a Small Pool

Although pools can be a lot of fun, they also have risks. Untreated pools carry with them the risk of germs and illnesses that can take the fun out of summer. In order to address this problem, chemicals are added to the pool water to kill unseen germs and create a sanitary environment. The best treatment for pools is chlorine, which effectively kills and makes the water fresh and safe.
What you will need:
Chlorine, safety glasses, safety gloves
Adding chlorine to your pool:
Determine the right kind of chlorine. There are different kinds, liquid chlorine (generally used for big commercial pools and difficult for non-professionals), tablets, and granular particles that dissolve quickly.

Apply the right amount of chlorine to the pool water. Generally, you will use 1/2 ounce of calcium hypochlorite granulars, three calcium hypochlorite tablets, or 1 1/2 ounces of sodium hypochlorite fifteen percent solution for every 1000 gallons of water. Your manufacturer's directions may differ, so make sure to follow their guidelines. It is essential to apply the right amount of chlorine. Use gloves and safety goggles when applying the chlorine.

Put in a conditioner or chorline stabilizer. The frequency for stabilizing varies. It could be something you need to do every few weeks, or once during the summer.

Test your pH and chlorine levels 2-3 hours after adding chlorine.
